How to know the battery health of your Android smartphone

Batteries tend to degrade over time, which is why your phone’s battery life isn’t the same today as the day you took it out.

The state of degradation of the battery is called “battery status”.The battery status tells us how badly the battery has deteriorated. If the battery health is low, the battery will drain faster.

Unlike the iPhone, Android devices don’t have an easy way to check the battery status, so you have to dig a little deeper for life.

Check Battery Status on Samsung Galaxy Phone

Samsung is one of the Android makers that includes a method to check the battery status. This requires an app, but it’s an app that’s probably already on your phone. If you don’t have the Samsung Members app, you can download it from the play store.

First, swipe down from the top of the screen to see quick settings and tap the gear symbol to open settings.

Then scroll down and select “Maintenance and battery”. In the new screen that opens, choose “Diagnostic”. This will open the app Samsung Members with lots of icons of things you can check. touch icon “Battery Status” Continue.

There you will see battery information. The reading of “Duration” This is the one that refers to the health of your battery. It will be “Good”, “Normal” or “Low”.

Other Methods to Check Battery Status

If you don’t have a Samsung Galaxy device, you can try a method that doesn’t require third-party apps.

This method uses Android’s hidden diagnostic menu which can be accessed by entering codes on the phone’s dialer. However, these codes do not work on all mobile devices and networks.

Open the Phone app and enter ##4636##. This will bring up a “Tests” menu which may include a “Battery Information” section. Here you will see the battery status.

If that doesn’t work (most likely it won’t), you’ll need to use a third-party app like AccuBattery.

Unfortunately, you won’t get health data right away. AccuBattery cannot access historical information about your battery. It will start logging data after you install it. After a few charge/discharge cycles, you will be able to see a battery status readout.
